Seems like a blue collar west bank of the Mississippi River suburb. Ardmore OK.
Typical small city for that part of the country. Unfortunately, not a very interesting downtown area and probably due for a bit of re-investment. Sadly lacking in character.

Glendale Heights, Illinois
No... particular... association. I grew up in Chicagoland and the only image that name conjures up is "generic DuPage town". I.e.: six-lane stroads, aging '70s/'80s strip malls, cul-de-sacs, boring office parks, good schools but nothing to do. The kind of place you visit for the first time for a Firestone appointment because you can't find one anywhere else.
I've probably been through it at some point, but I couldn't tell you where it is in relation to other towns or anything it's known for. Wikipedia says it has a large Asian population (not unusual for that part of the metro) but this includes a large Filipino component (which is unusual).
Man I keep forgetting just how recently DuPage County became absorbed into Chicago's orbit. Glendale Heights isn't even that far west (i.e. away from Chicago) within the county, but as recently as the 1960 census it was still a tiny farming town of 173 people.

New Berlin, WI
Generic, soul-crushing midwestern suburbia. I was struck by how similar New Berlin appeared to many Chicagoland suburbs, like Glendale Hieghts, actually. Or Randall Rd in Kane County. I expected more unique Wisconsin character, like in Kenosha.

Hammond, IN
I find that area of the south/southeast suburbs around the IL/IN border intriguing, never explored it much while I still lived there. I think I've streetviewed around Hammond's (dated, a bit blighted, but classic) downtown once, but have never been to the town besides getting gas and convenience-store stuff en route to and from Indy.

Alton, IL
Lower middle class suburb of St. Louis, has a pretty low cost of living, but not for me, mostly due to the crime.

Van Buren, AR
The downtown business district along Main Street, does indeed look very nice! Looks like the park along the Arkansas River kinda looks nice too, along with some of the residential hilly blocks north of downtown. That said when you get away from downtown, the city kinda looks blah, and too strip mall-ish for my preferences. Ah well at least the crime rate for Van Buren actually wasn't bad, when I looked up its City Data profile.
Another place in this part of Arkansas, that is NOT Conway, Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, etc. And is NOT near say Fayetteville or Bentonville, but is still in the western half of Arkansas, and does have more population than a lot of other places between Conway and Fort Smith. And even has a local public tech college, and has a local lake(Lake Dardanelle). Don't know if this town has ever been brought up before, in this thread: Russellville, AR

Russellville strikes me as rest/meal stop between Little Rock and Ft. Smith. Greenville MS?
It's a very poor, mostly black town in an agricultural area whose sole life blood is its historically black college.
