Based on the 1st couple of post on this page I guess the 2nd part of my previous comment holds true(and I happen to be Haitian by the way). Miami has 3rd world areas, but it's not COMPLETELY 3rd world. Try to appreciate the US beyond the Hudson River. I know it's hard, but give it some time.

People rely too much on sterotypes instead of actual experience. I see it toward my own area and to other areas I know pretty well. I assume it the same exact thing for other areas now.

For me, the Los Angeles Metro area looks like one of the most interesting areas of the entire country. Its a crowded metro area (like NY in that sense) so the quality of life may not be as high and it might be more expensive than some other areas. But populated areas also tend to be more interesting and have more things to do.

^^^That's C-D, Just generalizations. I agree, how can someone say LA isn't interesting, it's been called the Entertainment Capital of the World. Beaches, Mountains, Theme Parks, Clubs, TV studios, Films, it's EASILY one of the MOST entertaining areas of the US. EASILY.

Skylines? Okay. Art, museums, people and culture, politics, history, sports, international importance etc., I do not think so. For instance both Miami and New York will win in the ethnic diversity category over Hong Kong.

Anyway you are right it is off topic.

Yeah, not my smartest comment, but some of it is true. EVERY thread involving Miami is followed by 3rd World. I agree that SOME, DANGEROUS neighborhoods in Miami look VERY 3rd world, but it doesn't hold true for the WHOLE city. I think New Yorkers need to STOP coming to Florida, lest they be SHOT!!!

True, true. I thought Noland was just referring to ALL categories of the skyline (like architecture, size, height, ect.) as apposed to entire city. Your right about everything else. Now that I cleared that up, I'm done. lets move on.

Yeah, but is everyone calling Miami 3rd world from New York City? Enough to form a Latino alliance of Los Angeles and Miami against New York? ROTF!!!

New York after all has a big Hispanic population itself with lots of Puerto Ricans, Columbians, Ecuadorians, El Salvadorians and Dominicans. BTW every Dominican girl I met so far is either cute to outright HOT, lol.

Where I work in Queens, we also have a lot of black people from the Islands, including Haitians. For the last two weeks, I had different customers from Nevis of all places. South Queens has one of the largest middle class black populations in the United States I believe.

I've heard. And New Yorkers are always coming down here bragging about how "dangerous" it is up there.

Honk Kong is not Superior to New York. Sure they have a lot of buildings, but there street view is unappealing and not ascetically beautiful.

^^^^^
under all that gliz is 3rd world ugly.

And to back up my claims that downtown LA is revitalizing and to ward off the trolls hear are some pic's of the revitalization and gentrification of downtown LA.

New theater by LA Live

LA Live

density shot

referbished historic building

improving street view

density shot of surrounding area near downtown.

signs of change

views of Koreatown

revitalizing of historic buildings

century city

Is there smog? No. Is there a crappy downtown? No. Is this the westside? No. So why do you think this?

Quote:
Los Angeles is bright outside of the Westside? Have we been to the same Los Angeles? Also, downtown LA is nasty..and I've never heard anyone refer to it as "beautiful". LA is essentially a polluted rundown dump outside of the Westside and Hollywood Hills. If we want to be selective, New York has Manhattan, Los Angeles has the Westside and Miami has Miami Beach. Manhattan is the most populated out of the aforementioned areas.

Anyway, Miami is just too 3rd world for me. It's too poor/uneducated/dangerous and I don't want to live in South America.

It would be New York then LA. New York is overall the best place to reside.
