DFW? Please. Dallas has historically gotten more media attention for various reasons (Kennedy assassination, TV show, etc.) That's the only reason I could possibly see that someone would think it was more important than Houston.
Wow, you're so very uninformed about your own state if those are the only reasons you can see DFW being more important. That's embarrassing. Dallas, not even considering the metro, is just as significant in just about every aspect if not moreso than Houston. It's not like Houston is this dominating force in Texas whereas Dallas is just a humble lil town. In my own opinion they're pretty much on the same level, so please stop the delusions asap.
Dallas/Ft. Worth will become a force to be reckoned with in the near future. So will Houston, but Dallas has a slightly larger growth rate, so its not like Houston is catching up.

So tell me then why is Dallas more important to the nation than Houston?
Christ, I hate these damn "important" threads, but like a bad car wreck I can't turn away. "Important" is a highly subjective term on these threads that really has no defined meaning. I mean if the entire population of the Oklahoma City metro area--roughly 1 million residents--were wiped out, the entire US economy would feel it.
The only city on the list that would have any sort of relevance to the term "important" would definitely be Washington, DC which is the seat of our Federal government. Any major metro area in the country is going to be an economic driver and a center of commerce and culture.
