So the vast majority of Houstonians live that far away from the core of the city...that population density is only 6000/sq mile. Inner Boston (Back Bay/Beacon Hill/North & South & West Ends/Financial District/Chinatown) is upward of 20,000/sq mile, bearing in mind Boston proper is ony 45 square miles. Inner Boston is about 5 square miles.

Beacon Hill is only 200 acres (1/4 the size of Central Park) and has a population of 26000, that's 80,000 people per square mile...that's actually the same density as Manhattan.

You're right, LA is is 450 square miles, but has 1.6 million more people than Houston...all those car focused cities as a huge hurdle to overcome.

Agreed...both are financial, cultural, technology powerhouses, that have an enormous impact on world economy and culture. Silicon Valley and computer tech, Boston and it's medical/life sciences. Both are home to huge learning institutions, both are ranked global financial centers.

Similar areas (propers I mean) and similar populations. Similar Metro's too. In terms of populations and economy.

Maybe each is the second city of its respected coast.
West: LA-SFB
East: NYC-Boston (don't tell Washington though...they get to be the capital...even NYC can't say that, haha)

Both are cities on a Bay.

I vote San Francisco, too!

You brought up the Inner Loop, which I looked up (the area inside I-610) and said that was the essential part of Houston...what about the other 1.6 million Houstonians who live on the Outer Loop?

I was really just comparing...I wasn't being mean. I just think it was a disingenious comment to make.
