There you go, you just admitted it's not an official statistic. The generic term "Bay Area" that gets used so frequently is actually comprised of 6 separate MSAs.
I added up all the MSAs. For all of the biggest CSAs, not just 2. Why does that trouble you so?
Didnt make up numbers, nope just simple addition and whatayaknow? DC comes out 3rd and SF is just 15 Billion less than Chicagoland.
WOW

Only SF and DC benefit from the stupid CSA classification. It's way too broad, and doesn't reflect reality. Just as Baltimore and Washington are 2 separate cities, so are SF and SJ. Pretty soon you're going to start counting Sacramento and Tahoe as part of SF.
If the CSAs eventually include those places, damn right I'll start counting them.
I wonder...hmmm...if one day Chicago and Milwaukee combine, will you still be singing the same tune? Me thinks not.
Dallas is a aviation, manufacturing, corprate, technology, medical, transportation, banking and energy hub.
Houston is overwhelmingly energy and medical, some aeronautics with NASA.
Just doesn't add up.
Houston got all that.
