maybe someone is impressed with bartlesville's skyline for the simple fact that they are surprised a town of around 35,000 would have one. maybe thats why they would choose other. i almost chose other cuz of bville.

Many times towns are expected to "one day" be much larger than they ever really get to be, and there's overbuilding. Or maybe they once had a larger population that supported the businesses that were in those buildings. Clarksburg, WV is an excellent example - looks much larger than it is today (per population), and was supposed to grow into something bigger over time, but pretty much dried up instead (leaving the structures behind).

in this case its called oil money. it was hq for phillips petroleum (conocophillips now) which was founded in that town, and frank lloyd wright also put his only skyscraper in this town. that building is also cuz of oil.

Bartlesville Ok is a suburb of Tulsa Ok and at one time in History
The Oil Barons of Oklahoma Thought That Bartlesville and Tulsa
would evolve into TWIN CITIES Like Minneapolis/St. Paul.....
Dallas/Ft. Worth TX........Low And Behold It Never Happened...

Bartlesville IS NOT and never HAS BEEN considered a suburb of Tulsa. Never will be.

They just recently got put on Tulsa's extended MSA for the census.

Tulsa's is more of a classic skyline that I can appreciate alot but OKC's skyline is going to be ever changing and growing since OKC is now posistioning itself to be a major city and contestant for new businesses in the US. But, because of OKC's future, I have to give the nod to OKC even though Tulsa does currently house the largest tower in Oklahoma.

Don't blow to much sunshine and rainbows out...OKC won't be best
in Oklahoma until sometime between 2013 and 2020..because Tulsa has
Skyscrapers in DOWNTOWN and MIDTOWN and UPTOWN and SOUTHSIDE
and NORTHSIDE Tulsa TULSA is way..way..way ahead of OKC in SKYSCRAPERS .

Why oh why do insecure real estate barons always fall trap to building the "really really taller than any others" building in a downtown? The renderings of the Devon tower make it look like OKC is giving you the finger.

IMO they should have made it more proportional to the existing buildings...maybe 600 or 650 feet tall, instead of almost twice as tall as the 2nd tallest.

Looks like Devon Energy has an edifice complex...
