Yes but Central Park has more better things so it is to see the Central Park is in another league.

If your idea of a good park is larger and more organized events being held, then sure (though GGP has a good list of yearly activities). If your opinions aren't strongly weighted towards those events though, I don't see how they are supposed to be in a separate league.

I agree, it seems like this poster is trying to bash every city and act like nowhere can compete with San Francisco. Sorry but Golden Gate Park is not in the same league as Central Park.

the main differences are vegetation and weather. to say they're not in the same "league" is retarded

golden gate park has real facilities for sports. central park does not
golden gate park is right next to the pacific coast. central park is surrounded by buildings

gg has the conservatory of flowers, a heard of freakin Bison, over 1 million trees, japanese tea garden, museums, 10,000 seat stadium, etc etc etc its also bigger than central park
one thing thats sick about central park tho is that it gets snow in the winter, must look bad ass

Let's offer a few facts about Golden Gate Park:

- abuts the coast
- over 150 acres larger than Central Park
- Fewer visitors plus larger space means more isolation
- different year-round outdoor weather than Central Park (milder in general)
- offers many amenities including a bandshell that plays host to bands and other events, a natural history museum and a fine arts museum within the park, the oldest US Japanese garden, and a really large conservatory
- huge variety of flora
- counter-culture landmarks and history

It's reasonable for people to prefer either over the other.

Top 4 urban parks by visitors:

1. Central Park (New York) 25,000,000
2. Lincoln Park (Chicago) 20,000,000
3. Balboa Park (San Diego) 14,000,000
4. Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) 13,000,000

Although Lincoln Park and Balboa Park also include their respective cities' zoos (while Central and Golden Gate don't), so its not really a fair comparison. Particularly Balboa Park which is more of a cultural complex than a park (with over 15 museums, etc), and its not in a very urban environment.

The beauty of Central Park lies in the fact that it is right in the middle of the most populated and dense area in the US and yet you can get lost in it and feel isolated and close to nature. There are spots in Central Park where you can easily forget you are in a 10M people city.
