Really? Do you have data for that? I don't remember the job reports coming out back then.

Im going by these job reports and the Unemployment rate. The Houston MSA had a lower unemployment rate than DFW until 2-3 months ago. Now DFW's is slightly lower. These reports also seem to indicate that the Houston MSA is losing jobs much faster than DFW.

What Im wondering is what changed in Houston? Its obvious something has recently.

It couldn't have been anything that dramatic because I haven't really noticed anything and they don't mention it on the local news. The only high profile job losses I've heard about on the news is the Sanford Financial offices closing down Uptown. They were most likely a major employer here. I can't think of hearing about any other company here closing their doors. I think the recession has just finally caught up with us. If it can happen here in Houston it probably won't be long before it's happening in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. But hopefully not.

Oh okay. Do you have a link to them? I'm interested in seeing them.

Sure.

Its really not that dramatic when compared with the other areas of the country that are getting hit much harder than anywhere in Texas, but its enough to make you scratch your head because Houston typically weathers bad times better than DFW. This info is from two months ago as I previously mentioned.

You'll notice that the Houston MSA had a unemployment rate increase of .4% with DFW at .1%. Statistically, Houstons unemployment rate stays about .2% lower than DFW's. This information along with the data posted by the OP has me wondering what is happening down there (if anything).

Interesting. I'll look at them. I don't know what the major swift could have been. Nothing had really been going on.
