It is low-quality steak. And it's delicious.

It's not at all the same. The hot giardiniera makes all the difference. Also, the meat is a little more tender with the Chicago Italian Beef. They're both pretty juicy.

(I assume you're referring to something like this when you ask about the roast beef).

Get it with provolone and quality beef, however, and it easily gives Italian beef a run for its money
Yes on the provolone, no on the quality meat. I don't mean you should get the worst meat, but generally something like ribeye or round does the trick. You don't need to get the fillet.

I wonder why the filet or NY Strip doesn't prove to be a better cheesesteak? With Italian Beef, my cousins & fam. make such fabulous beef I can't argue with the formula, so I've never bothered to ask! It's the closest thing to peanut butter and chocolate I've come to a taste revolution since I've been born (can you imagine JUST coming across peanut butter and chocolate at your current age -- how unreal would that be!?) A great Italian Beef is so hard to beat with a Philly Cheese....even though a Philly Cheese is easier to eat/make, by and large.

I'll take a roast pork sandwiched from John's, let alone an Cheesestake, over an Italian beef.

I just had a roast pork from John's this afternoon. Tender, moist, delicious. Not an easy trip from Center City using SEPTA, but it was worth it.

Apparently neither. DiNics roast pork was just rated the best sandwich in the country

Geeze. Spoiler alert, please. I was actually going to watch that. (It's a pretty boring show, but I like to see who wins).

I'm only two days late on the sandwich thing. Anyway, I was expected the Roast Pork to win.

I'm from Chicago and i truly enjoy the italian beef sandwich, but to me nothing beats the philly cheese steak (although most of the people i know will disagree).
