Both are staples foods of their city, although I would say Italian Beef is overshadowed here in Chicago by hot dogs and pizza. I really like Philly Cheese Steaks, but I love Italian Beef/ dipped with hot peppers and mustard.
Which one do you prefer???
Had my first Italian Beef at Jack's Chicago Hot Dogs in Bisbee AZ last week, pretty good but no Philliy Cheese Steak

There seems to be a problem here...
perhaps it is Bisbee, AZ, and not the sandwich.
I certainly wouldn't go into Bob's Italian in Dallas, order a pizza and expect it to be the stuff I can get in NYC.
what? i guess you didn't read my 1st post in this thread...
I don't know of any of the chicago places that will not put a italian sausage on it if u request it plus they have the combo often on the menu.
as for giardenera... even subway and potbelly in chicago has giardenera.
I know my sandwiches
Actually, I misread the post.
Moving along from that, I am from Chicago and I too know my sandwiches.
The best I had was in Athens, although it wasn't processed meat. Have you ever tried an oozie? I believe it's Jordanian, and very delicious.
not an oozie, hrrm, will have to look it up... lots of doner kebab in europe though (similar)
I was meaning Chicago! would like to find a non kronos or something where they make it themsleves.
speaking of, where is the absolutely best Gyros???
Mr. Greek is decent, but this place called Poor Boy in Maywood gives you a nice bang for your buck.....You ever had feta cheese fries?? I had them from Greektown Gyro and fell in love ever since mmmm....
Philly Cheesesteaks, love em,Where is the best place in Philly to go and get one?
That would be Pat's or Gino's in Philly. Darn good stuff.
