What comes to mind when you hear:

- Alaska (Happy 50th, BTW)

- North Carolina

- Kansas

- Colorado

- Missouri

- Iowa

- Indiana

- New Jersey

- Connecticut

- (and finally) Nevada

- Alaska- A girl I liked that strung me along for months and then told me to get lost for no reason. She did this after she moved there.

- North Carolina-explosive growth and my step aunt and uncles OBX house I can vacation at anytime I want for free!

- Kansas- Smallville/Clark Kent's earth parents(yeah I'm grounded in reality right?)

- Colorado- amazing mountain peaks

- Missouri-the St. Louis arch and not much else

- Iowa-not much, the Slipknot albulm of the same name?

- Indiana-only drove through the southern part and the first thing I think of is the overwhelming flatness.

- New Jersey-the best friend I ever had(R.I.P.)

- Connecticut-the douchiest friend I ever had, and not nearly as stepford as I expected, complete opposite actually.

-Nevada-gambling and legal prostitution!

- Alaska: Barrow, Alaska, as it appears in T.C. Boyle's novel World's End: cold and isolated and rural. I realize that Alaska is mostly not this extreme!

- North Carolina: Lots of greenery and families in minivans driving to a small downtown area. Asheville or Chapel Hill.

- Kansas: Honestly, Dorothy and the tornado.

- Colorado: Willie Nelson lyric: "The bright lights of Denver are shinin' like diamonds, like ten thousand jewels in the sky." Stephen Stills lyric: "I am a man, I live alone."

- Missouri: Grand-looking old rowbuildings in St. Louis near the river. MLK Boulevard in St. Louis. Barbecue sauce.

- Iowa: The University of Iowa with its famous writing program.

- Indiana: Cars.

- New Jersey: Jersey City viewed across New York harbor. Bruce Springsteen. Monmouth Hills.

- Connecticut: New Haven Green. The fact that the state is shaped like a whale.

- (and finally) Nevada : Deserts.
