Pittsburgh doesn't have a good job market, but it has a very low cost of living, much better hospitals, universities, sports; probably better museums, symphony, Opera, theaters etc; and is often ranked by various "authorities" as one of the most livable cities in the country. I don't know what the restaurant scene is like in KC, so I can't comment on that. Personally, I prefer the architecture, structure, and location of Pittsburgh over KC...but that's not to say that I have anything against Kansas City...it's growing, my hometown is not.

Trust me, you don't want the kind of growth that KC has. It is very low density suburban sprawl on BOTH sides of the state line in MO and KS. They are finally increasing density in the Downtown area because of good infill projects, P&L district, and Sprint Center.
I'm not gonna diss Pittsburgh... but list some of KC's amenities.
-Best BBQ in the world
-Festivals almost every week
-Liberty Memorial and WW1 Museum
-Nelson Atkins Art Museum
-Union Station/Science City
-Most water fountains in the world besides Rome
-Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art
-Low cost of living
-Great libraries (Downtown and Truman Library)
-Power and Light District
-Crossroads Art District
-Westport
-Plaza
-Good local music scene
-One of the best metros in the country
-Kansas City Art Institute
-Casinos
-Theme Parks (Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun/Schiltterbans)
-Pro football/baseball/soccer
-Negro Leages Baseball museum
-American Jazz Museum
A few pics from C-D Poster kcmo:
I can't knock Pittsburgh, in fact I've been posting on the Pittsburgh forums because my GF and I will probably be going there for our masters degrees (and they have better universities, though KC does have good ones too UMKC, William Jewell, etc... but Pittsburgh beats KC). One difference based on the people who live there and talking to them on their forums, it sounds like their Downtown is basically dead. KC has a lively downtown with Power and Light, Crossroads, Crown Center, River market districts...

Can't disagree with this really... our biggest growth is in the burbs, tho I think it says a decent amount that downtown KC has gone from around 10k residents in 2000 to around 18k now... and the city plan is to double the population of downtown (though I can't find in how many years, but this is there plan as of 2009 so it doesn't account for it almost already doubling since 2000)
