I really enjoy both cities. To live I wouldnt hesitate to say San Diego, to visit its a toss up. Being here in Texas, a winter getaway in Miami is always great. San Diego you can really visit year round though.
Im not surprised San Diego is winning poll, just by how much....

Of course San Diego

I hate Miami. Too humid, too dirty and too garish.

I never said San Diego was intellectually superior to Miami. But San Diego clearly has a more educated population.

From the U.S. Census Bureau: The percentage of Population with a bachelor's degree or higher:

Miami-Dade County: 26.2%
San Diego County: 34.2%

Miami by a MILE for me... Warmer weather, vastly better nightlife, Miami is more of an international destination with more tourism... Miamis' beaches are far better for swimming/laying out, although I will admit that San Diegos beaches are more "scenic."
There's just something about that south Florida vibe that I love.. The Miami metropolitan area is also significantly larger than San Diego... I also prefer the east coast of the US, and I like that Miami is a short flight from New York, Boston, Philly, DC, Atlanta, New Orleans, as well destinations all throughout the Caribbean..etc..etc.

Tough one but probably San Diego for me. Although I'm much more of a beach bum type of person I guess it's pretty equal for either one for me.

Being that I'm single and I love good nightlife, I'd have to go with Miami. I lived in SD for 5 years, and although the city is beautiful, it's very dull.. Miami just feels like more of an exciting place.. I also find the women in Miami to be more consistently beautiful (I realize that's subjective though). Florida also has no state tax, and given the line of work I'm in, that's very important..

To LIVE? San Diego.
Miami is cool for a weekend visit, but anything longer and I'd go insane.
There are nice areas in the metro, though. I was just in Weston, and it's a very enjoyable town.

MSA vs MSA, Miami.
City vs city, San Diego.

They are... My only gripe with that is that they all look like they used the same BBL surgeon. And the culture down there is VEEEERRRRY superficial.
