Well to be honest people is SF are not paying 1.2 million for their houses, they are paying for location. Not too many cities can offer views like SF.

I don't know what it's like in other cities, but in New York, most row houses have a lawn, or a garden, in the back.

It's surprisingly quiet on the "inside" of a Manhattan block. It's a beautiful part of the city that few people get to see.

..Elfreth's Alley is a veritable forest when compared to those "bleak" SF condos..

Yep, it's Manhattan. Harlem to be exact. And thanks.

Haha, you get a pass if the row homes are in a pedestrian alley versus a 4 lane street.

No one was saying SF has no trees. We all know there's plenty of beautiful tree-lined neighborhoods there. We were simply commenting on the fact that those million dollar townhomes seemed to lack any form of plants in/around the front of their doors, which looked quite ugly.

It's not, though. There are so many American cities that have tremendously bland residential architecture. Those of us who live in cities that have a sizeable number of ornate rowhouses and gorgeous Victorians don't know how lucky we are.
