What are some smaller metro areas that have a neat freeway system?

I'd rank Chattanooga at the top of cities in that size range.

Asheville has a pretty nice freeway system, with I-40 and I-26 intersecting in the city and I-240 into Asheville. It also has the Blue Ridge Parkway passing nearby the city.

Freeways don't apply just to interstates.

Freeways: expressway: a broad highway designed for high-speed traffic.

You don't have U.S. and state highways? I'm pretty sure you do.

It's all the same thing though. Every interstate is a freeway/expressway, though not every expressway is an interstate. Basically what jluke said.

Who cares what they are called. They have interstates all over the country. I never say "i think im gonna take the interstate today" more like "i prefer to take the freeway to work, it will take me there faster"..

Absolutely agree. Freeways are ugly behemoths of sprawl and congestion. Not something to brag about.
