Although all of the stuff going on in Dallas right now is pretty exciting, the historical museums in Philly are still very notable. They're beautiful museums and it shows the city has a long history in the arts. I love Rodin BTW! If (or when) I ever make it up to Philadelphia, the Rodin Museum will be one of my first stops.
Good for you . I intend also on visiting Dallas because of the nice posters, from Texas I have met in this forum and the information on their city that they have shared with me and my fellow Posters. Lincoln Field is nice but pales compared to Dallas. I do not understand why more "Northern" cities do not Dome their stadiums; considering the sometimes harsh climate.

I would like to take this oportunity to thank all of the posters who have contributed their knowledge base and time to this thread. I have learned many things about both cities that I was not aware of.

I also hope that I have helped to enlighten my fellow posters of the positive attributes of both cities; two of our nation's sometimes undervalued but vital and vibrant cities. THANKYOU!

Also, I am most impressed with all my fellow poster's civility(save one) and look forward to a further exchange of facts, information, insights and opinions! . God Bless!

I freely admit "they" can sometimes be brutal; but you cannot fault their enthusiasm....

Could you do me a favor. Ive noticed alot of the data youve posted is based on city proper and alot is based on metro area, would you be willing to specify when you post it?

Thanks!
Surely...I almost always mean the metropolitan areas...but sometimes I do mean the city proper..I'll be more specific.

For where you want to live perhaps. Its certainly up for debate as to which is more important. Good points could be made for either.

*Yawn* I forgot how defensive and some Dallasites get whenever you say something about their city. But anyway, Dallas is a "city" built on practicality and profitability, nothing more, nothing less. If you prefer the McMansion/Megachurch/Chain Restaurant lifestyle and no intellectual stimulation whatsoever, Dallas is the perfect "city" for you. And that is fine, not everyone is equipped or meant to live everywhere. I needed and wanted more out of life and found a city that was better for me.

BTW, I'm not disagreeing that Philly or Dallas are unimportant or anything like that. Obviously, Dallas has a strong economy and lots of HQ's for corporatioins.

Well your assertions are false and generalized, full of stereotypes and condescending, how do you expect people to react? Of course I may be completely off base considering I'm an uneducated, unstimulated, slack-jawed yokel who knows nothing of the world I live in. Thanks for telling it how it really is.

Both are nice cities. Philadelphia is certainly a beautiful city with a lot of history and Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. Dallas/Fort Worth is also a fantastic area. I find the people here to be nothing short of wonderful. I've been all over and Texans/transplants to this area are the friendliest in the country. People are what make a city or an area special and there are none better than in the DFW metroplex, hands down. We also have natural beauty here. And if local beauty isn't enough a short drive to the hill country around Austin (http://grandmagamer.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/texas_hill_country_near_i-10_2004.jpg - broken link) or the mountains of Southeastern Oklahoma will provide you with breathtaking views.

BTW, PITTSTON2SARASOTA. You are obviously very proud of your beautiful city, and rightfully so. Good for you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and I wish you the very best.
