I've never been impressed with any picture of San Francisco's skyline. I never understood why people were so fascinated with it...then I drove by it on the bay bridge. Dallas looks better in pictures but SF is more impressive. It needs to be seen in person.

Dallas has some great building, but SF has the scale/density and size.

Exactly. San Fransisco's Density, Amazing Views, Water, Hills Makes That Skyline surpass Dallas by a LONGGGGGGGGGG shot. It's not even close.

So the NON-man made features are the reason why it's better? Not the buildings themselves?

.... ok.

jjg, you cant win this one. SF's skyline is better. Dallas does have a handful of great buildings, SF just has more. And on street level its not in the same league.

There's nothing to win. Fine, I'll say San Fran's skyline is better... but I'm not gonna say it's NO CONTEST like some of you are. I just don't see that.

.
That's not what I'm looking at.

What does street level have to do with this? This keeps happening, everyone wants to keep talking about everything BUT the skyline.

I love the Dallas skyline. Its skyscrapers are much more attractive and clustered together makes it more attractive imo. The heights, colors and shapes vary. San Francisco's just looks like a beige wall with a point and a black box sticking out of the top. And at night the Dallas skyline shines even more.

There is an old adage that has been used to describe Dallas for decades that still holds true and that is: "There is no there, there."

For those who keep saying "people only vote for SF because of natural features", let's look at the buildings themselves. The facts show that SF has far more skyscrapers and highrises than Dallas - this is why SF feels and looks like a much bigger, denser skyline.

# of buildings over 400 feet in San Francisco: 44
# of buildings over 400 feet in Dallas: 28

Total # of highrises in San Francisco: 415
Total # of highrises in Dallas: 304

DUDE I feel like if Dallas's skyline was right across the bay where Oakland is that it would be the BEST of both worlds. I personally wouldn't change San Francisco's skyline for anything. The look works for the city, what they need is a brand new supertall to spruce things up a bit.

So basically take the Dallas skyline and put it where Oakland is and that would be perfect and Rhymes with Best Coast has shown the renderings for the Treasure Island project on that island thing, that would be so cool!! It would be triple the skyline all overlooking the water in their own distict and special ways.
