Would the urban area or the metro area be a better measure of how the big the city is?

I think Tulsa has a pretty nice skyline for a metro of 950,000, and even more impressive for an urban area of 660,000.

Agreed, Miami has a bit of a way to go...

Speaking of... how the heck can you use/be aware of that sight and actually think the skyline of the suburb Clayton trumps downtown St. Louis?

I'm surprised people are saying Chicago..it has close to 10 million in its metro population and growing.

My vote would go to Pittsburgh. Pretty impressive skyline for a city of 307,000 and metro of 2.4 million.

Greenville, SC (60K).....Due to SCs restrictive annexation laws. If the city was in any other state it'd show it's true population, the urban population of (350k)

2. Seattle: With a metro about 3 million, it's skyline looks to be one of the biggest in the US. The city itself also punches above it's weight in other areas.

3. San Diego: Has quite a large skyline for a city of 2 million.

That's all I can really think of. What others, do you think?

ed: Oh I should have put this in the Gen forum, never mind...
Seattle wins imho. Huge skyline, much smaller population than it indicates. Pittsburg is another example. It really does NOT look like a city with a city limit population 300,000. Kudos to them.

I know it's in Canada but....

Calgary has a very impressive skyline for it's size.
I'm amazed, looks like city twice it's size, easily

I had to say this since it seems no one else will correct it

Chicagos MSA is 9 million and urban msa is 8 million, the city has 3 million people
San Diego only has 1 million people and 3 million for a MSA
