Why is this thread in the General US forum?
Are you afraid someone might mention a non US city?

1. Los Angeles county is by far the largest county in the United States (and stretches beyond Los Angeles city lines), so counties are irrelevant.

2. New York City itself (not to mention the suburbs of the city) is split up into many small different counties so there is no equivalent to a Los Angeles County in New York City which is why CSA/MSA (metro) population stats make it all easier to compare cities. Simple elementary logic.

And from a another source:

3. I spelled out out clearly for you:

New York City: 3.7% millionaires
Los Angeles: 2% millioniares

Are you finished yet?

When it comes to MSA, CSA, and City Proper....New York City crushes low-rent/poor Los Angeles when it comes to wealth.

From your hilariously skewed image of Los Angeles (celebrities, mansions!), I think it's safe to assume that you watch too much TV.
New York City also crushes Los Angeles when it comes to nastiness and arrogance.

Can't forget about nastiness and arrogance.

Replace afraid with terrified, and you hit the proverbial nail on the head!

I suppose.
Yes, I guess it's not so easy to look up facts.

For a city, 300,000 is a bit......Podunk. At least to me since I live in New York City.

And Paris...
And lived in London...

I don't understand how 300,000 is a large city. Quite laughable.

seeing that there are hundreds of cities in this country, and only a small amount in that population range, it would be on the higher end of population, making it big for a US city. I don't think you know what the word "podunk" means.

I do not find the "humor" in your inability to comprehend.

No thank you... I'll stick with Georgia Tech and get my electrical engineering degree at the end of next year... thank you

Like I stated earlier please explain how NY has a metro population of 15,000,000 according to your data, and LA only has 10,000,000. Where you get your data from McDonalds? ( a billion and counting)... I know LA county is huge, but at least my data checks out. By the way all this does nothing to prove that LA is not a rich people magnet. NY is too. LA is on a non-stop growth spurt though which makes me feel that people would rather have a huge mansion on some resort looking place with warm weather than a condo and a bubble coat nowadays.

LA pop:
Historical populationsCensusPop. %±18501,610—18604,385172.4%18705,72830.6%188011,18395.2%189050,395350.6%1900102,479103.4%1910319,198211.5%1920576,67380.7%19301,238,048114.7%19401,504,27721.5%19501,970,35831.0%19602,479,01525.8%19702,816,06113.6%19802,966,8505.4%19903,485,39817.5%20003,694,8206.0%Est. 20083,833,9953.8%source:[24][25]

But if you want some ego stroking I would say that NY is the best in the downtown in the middle of a vibrant downtown category...(if money wasn't an issue)

Podunk is someplace that doesn't reach my standards - low on the amenities, boring, low-class.... you know, off the radar...

A few other cities on that list are very Podunk (even one of the larger ones), but for the sake of civility I won't go there.

Podunk is a town in the middle of nowhere. Not a well established city known throughout the United States and possibly throughout the world.

It hasn't stopped you so far.
