Am I the only one that thinks the green neon outlining the building is tacky?
You're definitely not alone. The only cities that make an overwhelming amount of neon on skyscrapers look good are Hong Kong and Vegas (http://www.totalwallpapers.com/places/wallpapers/las-vegas-boulevard-las-vegas-nevada.jpg - broken link).
State Street Financial Center (http://www.flickr.com/photos/7676110@N03/928483175/sizes/l/ - broken link) here in Boston has a couple of neon lights on it, but it's subtle enough to look good (at least in my opinion).
I think without the neon, BoA Tower looks really good...however I prefer Billys Tower. Its dark glass gives it a very sleek appearance.
This is a good comparison. Personally, I like William's Tower more. Not only is it nice to look at but it's so useful!
When I was in high school and started to drive, I'd use the beacon on top as a way to get my bearings inside the loop. If I was going toward the beacon, I knew I was heading in some sort of westerly direction since uptown is west of downtown. :-P
