Didn't Houston have something like that for a very short time? Thank God it's gone...
Houston's Wedge Tower in downtown added green argon outlining back in the mid 90's which was very similar to Dallas' BOA, but when people started moving in those high rise condos during the late 90's they just lit the very top edges because of complaints the green glow was way too bright in their bedroom windows at night.

BOA's glass is not blue, its reflective silver.

You're thinking of Williams Tower with the dark blue glass.

State Street Financial Center (http://www.flickr.com/photos/7676110@N03/928483175/sizes/l/ - broken link) here in Boston has a couple of neon lights on it, but it's subtle enough to look good (at least in my opinion).

I think without the neon, BoA Tower looks really good...however I prefer Billys Tower. Its dark glass gives it a very sleek appearance.
Miami has some neat looking buildings with neon.

Austin has a couple too.

When I was in high school and started to drive, I'd use the beacon on top as a way to get my bearings inside the loop. If I was going toward the beacon, I knew I was heading in some sort of westerly direction since uptown is west of downtown. :-P
Yeah I think Phillip Johnson intentionally designed it like that & was inspired by a lighthouse since Houston is near the coast.

It is one of the tallest unobscured man made structures in the whole world.

I've personally seen it over 30 miles away on a clear night.

this is a joke..... BoA tower should never be compared to Williams Tower in any way. Williams Tower is more sleek, and beautiful in every way. BoA tower is "okay".

Let me join the chorus. I've always found the neon in Dallas's skyline tacky. And if that's not enough, what's up with that giant gold ball???
