Yeah I think everyone knows rednecks/hicks are everywhere.
The only kinda surprising thing is that there's a festival for it, I already know what parts of Pennsylvania this is probably in without even reading the article.
Not anywhere NEAR Philadelphia or Pittsburgh either.
Trust me I know.
I'm guessing it's within a 30 mile radius of Pottsville.
I have nothing against hicks/rednecks btw, I've been to these places many times. That doesnt mean I'll attend a Bear Roast or anything, some think it's funny to ask.
Pennsylvania is a big state. Certainly there are poor, isolated, downtrodden areas where this segment lives. So what? I used to live in central PA, and met some of the nicest, most genuine people that I have met anywhere there. Same with Philly, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Altoona. This was enough for me to give the thumbs up to the state. Rednecks don't matter in my life and I rarely run into them.
there is a huge difference between rural PA and philly...(or pittsburgh). this isn't surprising IMO.
