I accidentally voted for SF but I actually like Philly's more. SF has some amazing architecture but sometimes I think the Victorian homes too ornate and colorful, such as the ones in the first SF pic posted but the last two pics show some nice homes. Plus the lack of street front garages of Philly's townhomes make them look cleaner and better overall imo.

Overall I'd say Philadelphia...there is more diversity in it's rowhouse architectural styles. To be fair...the S.F. pictures posted were a better quality etc.; than those posted for Philadelphia.

are you guys serious

I mean seriously Philadelphia is the NUMBER 1 place in the u.s for rowhouses.

I think people are voting for San Francisco because Its in california and on the coast line.

Definitely Philly for me. I think Philly would win if better pictures were posted showing the sheer variety of rowhouses that Philly has.

To us Westerners, anything that does not have stucco or wood siding (or God forbid, aluminum siding!) gets lumped in as a brownstone. We're not up on the East Coast lingo - LOL!

I don't really think of SF's "painted ladies" as rowhouses; in many cases, they're not even attached..

Yes, the rowhomes in Center City (Philly) are quite nice, but these constitute a very small percentage of the rowhomes in Philly, and many of the city's rowhouse neighborhoods are in very bad shape.

In reality, most of the rowhouses in Philadelphia are very, very plain-looking--not unattractive, but not very decorous either. In San Francisco, the rowhouses are not as prevalent as they are in Philly, and a lot of neighborhoods feature detached houses (some of them ALMOST rowhouses.) I as a Northeasterner just find it difficult to get used to all the vinyl/stucco siding in San Francisco--it looks somehow fake to me! (This is odd because I live in a detached stucco house.)

I find much of both these cities very attractive, though, and could probably have gone either way.

A creamy mango hue maybe, but not pink.
My point exactly. Traditional colors are cool, but purple and pink, now that's a little too much.
