Wrong. Everything is not fried in the south.

Too much food is fried & is very unhealthful. In Los Angeles, they restrict how many fast food restaurants an area can have because it is unhealthy. And California has the strictest regulations on fats in food. People eat more vegetables here & they are either raw or lightly steamed. The South eats like they don't know how dangerous their diet is which suggest not very bright people.

Now see...an ignorant statement like this is simply uncalled for. THAT is what really suggests "not very bright people".

You could say the same thing for A LOT of people in CA. There is a reason for that fast food ban in South LA, the people there are not eating healthy so I guess that suggests they are not very bright people either. Also Mexican food isn't exactly healthy either. Lard filled flour tortillas, carne asada, cheese, etc.. Yeah CA offers a lot of healthy stuff and has the culture, cuisine, and reputation for it but their are plenty of fatty's here that eat just as bad as people anywhere else. Have you seen how busy Roscoe's Fried Chicken and Waffles is? All the taco shops, In-n-Out, etc..

I guess those people in west starving themselves and trying to conform to society's portrayal of what is normal are pretty smart. Even though they are killing themselves in the process.....

I want to go there; everyone keeps telling me their food is awesome.

What an idiotic statement.

You are correct that fatty foods are available to anyone but it is regulated & will be taxed even higher. Also students in high school have much less sugar or fat in their diets because the soda machines now have juice instead & cafeteria meals are very nutritious. I am Latino & know how unhealthy Mexican food can be but that's why El Pollo Loco or El Pollo Pepe are so popular. California laws are probably the strictest in the nation to curb bad diet\ habits. LA city council just forbid anymore smoking in outdoor restaurants\ around taco trucks\ outside bars\ parks\ beach.

Southern food is more "country" and not very healthy. Obesity rates in states like Mississippi are the worse in the U.S.

None of that excuses your ignorant statements on this subject. Why do people on city-data insist on talking about things they know nothing about? You obviously have no actual knowledge about food or anything else in the South.

I voted for California because of its produce, dairy, and fresh seafood. but your attitude about the south here is exagerated and rude. People from the south eat alot more balanced meals, with their families, and it's not all fried in lard anymore like they did years ago. Some of the "out" food staples are very greasy but that is America, not just the south. Look at all the fatsos walking around Chicago and the midwest. Are they not very bright as well?
