It was the blueprint for all things hip-hop. Its important to the genre but not as influential as it once was in the forever changing hip-hop scene. Who has been studying NYC artists?

Right now most of the artists with Influence are from "THE A", NYC with Jay z and fabolous, and Chicago with kanye and lupe.

Exactly. Atlanta, currently holds the crown for anything hip-hop. Doesn't mean that New York isn't important but the south in general has the genre on lock.

Ehh not really (anymore). Lately it's been much more universal. I'd definitely agree if this was pre-2010.

Yeah yall cats wasnt calling it the "trap" a few years ago. Yeah but southern hip hop is more like gangsta rap which was done first by cali. NY wasnt know for its gangsta rap. Southern hip hop has its own style. Yall cats up top wanna make 17 syllable words rhyme. down here its a different style. they aint worried bout the word play its about the bird play. The south is on that hard style like cali. So if the south is tryna be like anyone its LA not NY. what southern rappers talk about is way different then what NY cats talk about. we talk bout the trap, yall talk about the bodega. we talk bout chevys, yall talk about lexus. its a different world. yea we country and exotic. yall big city boring
