Its not that im incapable of accepting your opinion, its that i know your not checking in with the reality of it.

TS is exactly what it says it is,exactly how it looks on movies and tv- a big place full of lights and screens. Thats exactly what it is in person. If u came to ts expecting fine dining and such, than i dont know what to tell u. I never heard of ts being knwn for that. Going to a famous play and/or taking in the sights and vibrance is what ts is about and it delivers. It still manages to impress me sometimes and i worked in Ts before, was there everyday. Add on the fact that theres no one area like it in the united states. So no i dont accept that someone would not be impressed by TS. Its not logical.

Some places are niether overrated or underrated and TS is one of them, it is what it says it is period

And to the tourist of nyc, stop saying tourist trap(a word ppl use to try to sound cool btw). I've had plenty fun in ts with friends. Next time you "tourist" visit nyc your going to be "trapped" in times square once again. lol

Stop using shibuya as a trump card. A place with skyscraper trons, more videos and better looking lights(not just outdated neon) toppled with the fact that its New york doubled with the broadway shows speaks for itself. TS is the original all else are imitators no matter what city. Its not rocket science
It's funny that you have a privileged place in reality without having experienced very much of it. Absolutely amazing, really.

I mean c'mon guys, everyone can have his/her won preferences and opinions but objectively, based on available stats, New York City wins...

Number of visitors doesn't=Number of attractions, that's a whole other argument really.

Agreed LA has beaches and mountain hiking, yet tourist can find those anywhere else and routinely chose New York City over LA so apparently they find New York City more attractive and more filled with attractions. The numbers speak for itself. New York City offers much more original or unique attractions.

LOL, I'll admit the bolded was a bit of a stretch.

Okay, then I guess with that logic Orlando and Las Vegas are on par with NYC.

I disagree. The numbers of visitors reflect tourists' perception of available attractions as opposed to an opinion of a particular poster.
What for you may be an attraction for most people may be not. What for you is attractive for the general public may be not.
It's data and stats versus opinions.

So if so many number of people visit say Times Square or Disney Land, not including other places in that city, that reflects how many attractions the city has? Right..
NYC is the greatest city in America,it is a place that must be seen at least once,it has some of the best cultural institutions in American,etc.,etc. but if however odd million number of people travel on business or other affairs that adds to the attractions? Not necessarily.
I'm not trying to argue NY isn't the city with the most attractions as it is nearly equally torn between there and LA,imo, but sheer number of visitors doesn't=attractions.

When you hear all this and then go there its pretty hard not to be underwhelmed. Its cool to at least pass through once though just to say you've done it, and that's about it.
From what I understand, it's nothing but chain restaurants and big flashy advertisements. Like I said, it sounds like huge monument praising commercialism and corporate America. I'm sure there's some cool architecture on TS so I would probably stroll down the street just for that.

I'm sure the majority of Manhattan outside of TS is pretty cool. I'm huge architecture buff (in the not too distant future, I probably have my license and architecture will become my official career), so if I where to spend a week in New York, I would probably spend my days touring the Manhattan architecture and going to museums and spending my evenings bar hopping in Brooklyn.

on another note at anyone who feels to respond, how do find the numbers for how many people annually visit Time Square? I can understand Disney World sense you have to buy a ticket to get into the theme park, but how do you determine how many tourist visit a public street? Do they just go by the number of sales at the shops? If so, how would you know who's a tourist and who's a resident?
