Actually, it's close, and L.A. might have the edge because the weather is more conducive to enjoying it all. They have things in L.A. that we have nothing like in N.Y. and can never get.

That's what I was thinking, and that goes for ALL cities, not just NYC. There is a VERY large variety of things to do in LA(As far as outdoors go) that we out here on the eastcoast, can't do.
NY, LA, Orlando, and perhaps DC are probably the only cities that could support 10 whole days of tourism. Most other cities would get very boring after 5 days of pure tourism, much less 10. I am talking about attractions, not shopping malls and restaurants. I would say LA offers the most variety since you get all of the cultural stuff, great theme parks, beaches AND great weather.
I'd go with L.A., NYC, Chicago, Philly, Boston, DC, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Montreal, Vancouver, Tampa, Miami, Santa Fe/Albuquerque, Phoenix/Tucson, Denver, Seattle.... For 10 days I think there are probably even more cities that would be options for a visitor. Maybe Memphis, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin/San Antonio even...
Now for living someplace, where you can live a lifetime and never run out of "attractions", that would be NY, L.A., maybe San Francisco and a couple other places... NY and L.A. stick out as places that are just overflowing with ever-changing attractions.
