DTLA is a little dead in daytime since most of the movers and shakers are on the Westside. DT Dallas has tall buildings but high vacancies, even an entire skyscraper has been shuttered. DT San Antonio is tourist oriented since the offices are along Loop 1604. DT Austin barely has class A office space; too sketchy. Las Vegas' downtown is full of the old line casinos that have been eclipsed by the casinos in the unincorporated county.

Ever been to DT Houston during lunchtime? That's the liveliest time to see it. The primary use of downtowns are for working, shopping, lunch, banking and worshiping during the day. The secondary use of downtowns are for maximizing the existing infrastructure for additional revenue: the restaurants serve dinner, the bars get patronized more, and the clubs open.

Dude Houston's downtown is dead, the OP has proven it with his videos, there are other areas in town that are more vibrant, unfortunately downtown isn't one of them.

No , but like I pointed out before, dont confuse stobes of people walking around with , being dead, try getting into a club or a bar downtown on friday or the weekend most times it standing room only. Houstonisan dont wonder around on the streets, but we do cluster in certain spots, bayou place, the main street bars, discovery green, market sqaure, so when people like you claim downtown is dead you really are not being 100% honest

Yeah, Houston’s downtown/core isn’t even top 5 in the sunbelt. LA, Vegas, Miami, NO and San Diego easily eclipse it.

Downtown LA is meh. Its honestly just marginally better than Downtown Houston.

From 2016 to 2019, I lived in Downtown LA during the week at the Hotel Figueroa and flew home to Houston on the weekends. I did spend many weekends there as well. Some good restaurants and bars, but nothing noteworthy other than the massive number of homeless people there.

Its not like this is new. I grew up in Torrance and its better now than it was when I was growing up. It had a horrible reputation in the 80s and 90s but started coming up around 2007. But for nightlife, its just whatever.
