And where did I make this alleged post again? I know he reported my post since he couldn't come up with a response but no where in my post did I say that.
I love how you switch between Brooklyn and the entire city of New York between arguments. Very slick. But we are talking Brooklyn Einstein. Cost of living is lower IN BROOKLYN compared to the salary.
Cost of living in NYC as a whole is high because of Manhattan which is rich people haven. Your average middle class wouldn't usually move there anyways.
Lol at actually trying to argue that the cost of living in Brooklyn is lower than Oakland. Once again, on what planet? The very COL calculator you posted says you would need a salary of $67,169 to have the same standard of living in Brooklyn that you would on $50,000 in Oakland.

Yeah, Brooklyn housing(and Im sure everyday expenses except maybe gas) is higher than Oakland which by itself is expensive too just not as much as BK, but Oakland has a higher average income.
This is a rare occasion where the Bay Area isn't the more expensive place being compared.

Did you lose you reading glasses or something? It doesn't say what salary you need it says what salary you will be making if you move to that city. The cost of living is below it.
Since you obviously don't understand something so simple here it goes; if you make $50,000 in Brooklyn you will make $37,219 in Brooklyn which is which is $12,781 less. But the cost of living in Oakland is only $8,100 less. Which means you will still need an additional $4,681 to maintain the same lifestyle in Oakland. Easy enough to wrap your head around it now?

What part of "comparable salary" do you fail to understand? $50,000 in Oakland goes further than $50,000 in Brooklyn thus why someone making 50K in Oakland would need a pay bump to the tune of nearly $20,000 to make a move to Brooklyn worthwhile.

Do you know how to read? Do not see in the title that it says "Cost of living: How far will my salary go in another city?" It's says comparable salary because your comparing two places genius.
How the hell would cost of living be $12,781 less Oakland if prices are only $8,100 less than Brooklyn. Seriously did you ever go to thing called a school as a kid?

Price on what, housing? Rent? The average price of a house in Brooklyn is literally $100K+ what it is in Oakland. Where's the source for the $8,100 figure you keep referencing?

I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with your computer or something. It says so there pretty clear for cost of general things:
Price difference in Oakland, CA
Groceries 9% less
Housing 42% less
Utilities 34% less
Transportation 3% more
Health Care 1% more
That all amounts to $8,100 less only. It's middle school math for gods sake.

I have to disagree, somebody is having a moment!!! My favorite cartoon!
Now, enough with this "flava" because BK owns Oakland in every way possible.
