Portland, Oregon vs. Boise, Idaho (compare, cons, difference, metro)

Where would you choose? Why? What are the biggest differences? Thanks for any help!

Quite a few differences. Where does one start?

Portland: Liberal, Boise: Conservative

Portland: Mild, wet climate, Boise: Dry, continental hot/cold climate

Portland: Metro of 2+ million, Boise: Metro of around a half million

Portland: Artsy, tolerant, granola; Boise: Tries to be all those things, but really isn't

Portland: Green, walkable, good public transit; Boise: Tries to be all those things, but really isn't

Bottom line, both cities are quite attractive in their own ways, but are quite different.
