To identify urban areas where the architecture and the locale are both stunning, Forbes magazine turned to world-renowned architects.
Quote:
Since beauty is subjective, we surveyed city specialists from a range of fields, including urban planning, architecture and sustainable development. Respondents include Reynolds and Michael Kaufman, an architect at Chicago-based architectural firm Goettsch Partners, as well as Raymond Levitt, director of the construction program in civil and environmental engineering at Stanford University (http://topics.forbes.com/Stanford%20University - broken link), Tony McGuirk, an urban designer, architect and chairman of BDP in London, J. Hugh O'Donnell of urban engineering firm MMM International, and Ken Drucker, New York design director of architectural firm HOK.
Florence, New York, Warsaw, London, Dublin, Toronto, San Francisco, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
That's my list anyway.
Really, Warsaw?
Just curious, because as a Polish-American I've always wanted to go to Poland, but I've always heard from people that Krakow was nicer... What did you find appealing about Warsaw? I've seen some pictures of it, but I'm not that familiar with the true feeling of the city.

I actually never been there, but judging by the infrastructure in pics I've seen, I was in Awe. I also heard that it's been going through some rapid revitalization.
It has a depressing history threaded in, so maybe it offers a different vibe in person. It's probably an interesting place to visit overall though.

Lunenberg, Nova Scotia is another one that deserves a mention.
