I think a city like Pittsburgh could meet this criteria ; very much built on Steel this city has completely reinvented itself!

I think skyline is definitely Austin, Charlotte, or Miami.

Economy- I agree with Kidphilly, Pittsburgh has made drastic changes to it's economy.
