LOL!!! Leave it to them to kill progress. Just like the wealthy waterfront enclaves on Cape Cod that don't want the wind turbines built out on Nantucket Sound. They should build them higher, they'll generate more wind.
The biggest problem with I-95 in Connecticut is there are only 3 interstates going into New England (I-95 NY-CT, I-84 NY-CT, I-90 NY-Mass) and the lions share of traffic heading to New England travel up 95 or Merritt Pkwy through Fairfield County, mix that up with the commuters in a very heavily populated region, and it's a giant bottleneck in a sense. Anytime I drive south to NC to see my family I always do the Boston to DC stretch overnight.
The northeastern highways were the first ones built in the 1950's, and their just isn't enough room to build 16 lane highways with spaghetti flyover interchanges like Houston or Southern California. They are going to have to revive more rail corridors up there.

That's a good idea. You're also better off avoiding 95 in CT at night due to ongoing construction. Since the highway is so heavily traveled, there's almost always construction.
Maryland/DC Screwed up with allowing outsiders(special interest extremist groups) to Sabotage the Completion of I-95 and I-270 from the Maryland Suburbs to Downtown DC connecting today's I-395/3rd Street Tunnel.........
How long it would take you from Fairfield,CT to the Bronx,Ny if you leave at 6am, and also on your way home 6pm ? Just hopping that leaving early would help....

Fairfield, CT to the Bronx is a good 40 miles, and you're traveling on one of the busiest stretches of highway in the country. That said, if you leave at 6 AM, you'd likely get to the Bronx by 6:45 since you'd be beating much of the traffic. Do NOT leave any later than 6:15 or you're looking at a good 20-30 mile backup.
I voted for I-95 between New Haven and New York. I lived in Connecticut for 5 years and made several trips to New York City on I-95 or the Merritt Parkway
Both roads are equally bad, especially on a Friday evening. I remember picking up a relative who had just returned from Miami at JFK on a Friday evening. We left the airport at 4 in the afternoon, and didnt get home till about 9 at Night.
It took 5 hours to 90 miles! From New York, to Meriden, CT!
Not to mention it was also extremely hot that day as well, and the a/c quit as we crossed the clogged whitestone bridge
I-91 between Hartford and New Haven isn't bad at all. We lived Meriden, smack in the middle of that route, never had problems getting to New Haven or Hartford. Its I-91 between Hartford and Springfield that has lots of traffic, a lot of folks who work in Hartford live north of the city, not south
i_91 from Hartford to Springfield should have been an option as well
QFT. But out of the choices, New Haven to NYC is my pick, I avoid it whenever possible, which means using that other hell road known as 84.
