Funny thing is that a guy I sat next to on a flight a few years ago told me - the thing about the DFW airport is the terminals are in Ft Worth and the Rental car place is in Dallas - After experiencing it I see what he meant - that airport covers one huge footprint
I think the terminals are in Grapevine and the rental car terminal is in Euless, but I could be wrong. However, I do know that not one inch of the airport is in Dallas.

They have a Board of Directors, what that does is it enables peace between the smaller suburban cities when it comes to control over the airport. There are periods of times when the members are rotating, meaning one city's member has control for a direct short period of time until it is passed on to another member.
Dallas and Fort Worth have long resolved the dispute over the airport.

Fort Worth is certainly making a lot of headway. It has more authentic Texas charm than Dallas. It will be interesting to see how much Fort Worth will compete with Dallas in say 50 years. Like Minneapolis and St. Paul, Dallas and Fort Worth work well together which gives it an edge on Houston.
