For urbanized areas Id say the San Francisco Bay area from the Monterey Peninsula to the Napa Valley would have to be #1.

For North American Urban areas:

1. San Francisco
2. Honolulu
3. Vancouver, BC

World Wide: Istanbul, glad I've had a chance to spend so much time here over the past 6 months. A must visit IMO.

I remember whatching all those westerns as a kid set in Utah and Arizona and I just loved them. I havnt visited that area yet though.

San Francisco is probably the most beautiful city in the US although I heard Supai village in Arizona is in between two spectacular Waterfalls in the grand canyon.

I've been to Istanbul and Its definetly a beautiful city but its too big with 10 million people and there are too many "bad Parts" like in any other city of Its size.

Im From Italy and I found the Greek coast line to be very attractive as well as santorini and Crete.

I think Seattle and Honolulu can definitely give it some competition.

The Pacific Northwest has the most natural beauty of any region in the country in my opinion. There is so much beauty in this country though. The Northeast, California, Upper Midwest, Appalachia, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, The Rockies, Alaska, etc. are all filled with lots of beauty.

For specific cities, I would say Seattle is the most scenic, followed by Honolulu, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Salt Lake City. For urban beauty, New York, Chicago, and Boston are the most beautiful.

To jp1188: I agree with what you say about the Pacific Northwest and other beautiful places, but I find Seattle to have plenty of urban beauty as well, as well as Vancouver, Canada, and it goes so well with the scenery around those places.

I don't know if I could pick the most beautiful city I've been to. I was born and lived in Poland for a lil while, and two of the most beautiful cities I saw there (and got to live in ) were Warsaw and Krakow. It's too bad I don't remember much anymore. But looking at pics now, I wish I could've been able to appreciate it all back then. All of Poland looks so beautiful and I'd really like to visit sometime. (I'm still a citizen so I just need time and money )

For here, I couldn't pick so I'll just mention I think NYC's one the most beautiful cities I've been to/ lived in. I love urban landscapes and nothing gets me like that skyline. Speaking of NY, Niagara Falls is amazing to see in person, especially from the boat . Overall though, I think New England's the most beautiful region, from Connecticut to Maine. Just a few of the places I think are really beautiful, Mystic CT, New Haven and Hartford (you can find the beauty if you look for it), Boston, Cape Cod, there's tons more but I'm trying not to write an essay.
But I HAVE to mention Shelburne Falls, MA. I got to visit it on a field trip 2 years ago in my 1st semester in college. One of the prettiest lil towns I've ever seen, the mountain and forest backdrop, the pretty colorful buildings, the river running through it, the glacial potholes, and the beautiful bridge of flowers. I'd post pics but don't know how , but there's no way pics could do it justice anyway.
