Maybe 20-30 years ago yes, but NYC is no where near as grimey as Chicago. I feel super safe when I visit my dad's people up in NYC, cant say the same when I visit my moms people in the Chi. lol...NYC cats look like well manicured pretty boys compared to those dudes running around Chicago...lol. But thats why I like Chicago better, its "realer" to me than NYC...
Right? hell even 20 yrs ago chicago was probably just as grimey as NYC(not a good thing). But right now, overall, no way Chicago has changed but not on nyc's level when it comes to crime&gantrification.

I am proud of it.
I do envy it in one way only...the Theater District.

You need to visit L.A. And yes, there IS a comparison to be made.

You really need to travel more.
there is no comparison. chicago vs ny is a better comparison. la is too spread out and relies too heavily on vehicles for a decent comparison.

i have been to MANY places in and out of the country.

Obviously L.A. isn't one of them.

You just proved my point....People act like its wrong to want some breathing room, and drive their own car.

If you're used to and like the lifestyle of NYC or Chicago, then obviously you're not going to embrace the lifestyle in LA.

Vice versa for LA. There are people who are exceptions, it does happen that some people going from NYC to LA might like it more then NYC, vice versa.

But these three cities always come down to personal preference and what you prefer over the other.

There really isn't a "my city is best because it's denser..." or anything like that.
