I think the problem is NY is talked about so much, people just get tired of hearing about, especially on this site. Another issue is too many people making NY out to be too many things: The Best this, the tallest this, the densest that, the most that, is it any possible that there is a city better than NY at something? Also, people on this site pretty much despise LA and cities in the south because there not "Dense" enough or public transportation isnt 24hrs. So if your city isnt crowded, and you cant take a train everywhere, your city is pathetic.... it becomes redundant after a while.
I know from where I am in St. Louis and a lot of people I ran into, opinions of NYC are largely indifference. Most of the feelings that would normally be directed there tend to manifest themselves in relation to Chicago. I think part of it is people here don't interact much with New Yorkers that often either here, there, or somewhere else.
1.NYC is TOO expensive
2.NYC is too grimy
3.NYC has short grimy skyline
4.NYC has ugly beaches
5.NYC is RUDE
6.NYC has ugly architecture
7. other then that it's an ok city

I disagree. I think people do give credit to other cities over NY where credit is due. For example, Miami has better beaches, San Francisco is more naturally scenic, DC is more politically powerful, LA has a greater film industry, etc.
Theres alot of threads puttting new york vs other american cities. There should'nt be none of that. America operates on a global scale and nyc is americas premier city and it represents our country. So are ya proud of new york as an american?(directed towards the west coast.and Downsouth) At the end of the day where all in this together as a country. So speak your mind
