Which one is more Diverse- The Tri-State Metropolitan Area or The San Francisco Bay Area?
Yes I mean diversity, I'm talking about former farmer from the landlocked region of Mongolia being found in one of these two areas now making a living for himself with an established family.
I'm talking about the level of ethnic diversity that can send Rush Limbaugh to the hospital after catching a glimpse of how many foreign people there are.
Okay, not really, but you get the idea of the level of diversity I'm asking for here.
Yes I'm talking about which one being THAT diverse.
Criteria;
- Food (The options and which culture is represented)
- Languages
- Culture
- Ethnic enclaves (which ones exist- how popular are they? which cultures aren't represented?)
- schools
- art/music influenced by the culture
And anything else that has to do with people's backgrounds contributing or solely even existing in these two areas.
i'm eating right now lol so i'm just going to post something really fast.
nyc takes this alone, let alone adding the other two states.
nyc is the most diverse area of the nation. queens is the most diverse county and borough of nyc. pretty much any ethnicity that one could think of is represented in queens alone, let alone the other boroughs.
obviously nyc has:
chinatown (manhattan)
chinatown (flushing)
east harlem (aka spanish harlem aka el barrio)
washington heights
little italy
and various other ethnic enclaves.
nyc is known for west indians, eastern europeans, western europeans, asians, and now we're getting a large influx of mexicans and central americans.
in my neighborhood, pakistani's, east indians and guyanese indians run everything. they own everything. before them there used to be a ton of black west indians all over.
my neighborhood smells like west indian food. obviously you hear a ton of languages everyday, in your daily commute, even just chillin watching tv with the window open.
the art and music should be self explanatory as well. hip hop, salsa, reggae, merengue, house, rock, etc. all big here. some got started here. some of your favorite bands/artists got their start here.
etc. etc. when other ppl post, then i'll post more examples, stories, etc.
jersey is really diverse. i don't feel like posting about that because i'm not from there. let somebody from jersey handle that lol. ct too.
"You just have to be there" is like the best way to describe anything about New York or any city for that matter. Theres nothing like just walking around an interesting neighborhood breathing in the atmosphere.
