San Jose is the most, most underrated city in the U.S., hands down!!!! A nice downtown and Santana Row. It's a better city than Philly, which is the second ugliest city in America, according to Travel Leisure magazine. San Jose has many nice communities like Willow Glen, Alemeda, Campbell and Los Gatos, which are upscale and neighborly.

The main problem with San Jose is that it has a ****ty skyline for its size.

As far as being in the Upper Midwest, you walk on the streets and ask anyone to name "Three Cities in Texas" and I guarantee Austin gets mentioned 1% of the time. The majority of answers would be Dallas, Houston, San Antonio. Heck, half the people here don't even know that UT is in Austin. They probably just assume its in Dallas.

San Jose is a giant suburb. Philly absolutely destroys it.

And Santana Row is a suburban strip mall. I would hardly use a suburban strip mall to bolster your case for San Jose.

Yes, Santana Row has fancy stores, but these stores exist in all major U.S. cities.

Silicon Valley actually has lots of nice towns, but San Jose is one of the worst. The nice towns include Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Altos Hills, and many others.

Gnutella, San Jose's downtown beat the heck out of Pitsburgh interms of its skyline and downtown. No kidding! Check out San Jose and be the judge for yourself.

Ohio248, San Jose a giant suburb and creamed by Philly? Are you kidding? First, Philly is the second ugliest city in the U.S., according to Travel Leisure magazine, and secondly, San Jose has a nice downtown and a vibrant one. Please check out San Jose before you blab you finger.

Well, then, they are total ignoramuses.
Everyone should know that "Texas. The University" is in Austin, Texas.
GO LONGHORNS.

6) Austin, TX
7) Salt Lake City, UT
8) Madison, WI
9) St. Paul, MN
10) Louisville, KY
I agree with all except two--Austin gets the most hype of any city in the Central Time Zone (except maybe Chicago) and Madison has always seemed to make "best cities" lists since they first came out.
