Columbus should defiantly be more around number 21. Younger, more vibrant, large gay scene (hey that does add excitement, large young professional population, lively areas around downtown. It is defiantly more hopping than Hartford, Pittsburgh. Being not overshadowed by a much larger city nearby it draws large tours/concerts that pass over many other cities ahead of it on the list.
Those cities I highlighted have nothing on Kansas City. Especially Memphis. Why is Memphis ranked so high???

Agreed. I'm not a big traveler, so I've only been to about 10 of the cities listed, but I'm sure every one of those places has something fun to do. It's a matter of getting out there and exploring the town. I highly doubt the OP has even been to all 50 of them, let alone spent enough time to form an educated opinion.
Out of the few I've been to, I'd say my favorite cities, besides KC, are NYC, DC, and Savannah, in no particular order. Although, Savannah's summers freaking killed me. If it wasn't roasting, it was raining. I swear it poured at least once a day, but the upside to that was the gorgeous foliage. And, well, I have a love for skyscrapers, architecture, and crowded cities. So, that's where NYC and DC come in.
