Many people I know are leaving Florida for where they're from.

That is a big question in terms of migration. Will this recent trend with Florida where it went from domestic in migration to out migration continue or go back to what it was? It is very possible that Florida is going to be like California where immigrants move in but US born people move out.

I guess we will have to wait for the new census figures to come out since Florida's population has increased 16% from 2000-2009 and is expected to continue increasing, albeit at a slower pace.

I trust actual studies that have been correct in the past rather than one persons subjective post.

NYC's birth rate is about 128,000 and the death rate is about 54,000 which would add about 74,000 in population a year. Multiply that by those 19 years and you have 1,406,000 which means there is a net loss if you are only talking about migration.

And I agree with the rest of you about how crappy and poorly planned most of Arizona is--it's like America's retirement home. How do you build a "city" on the desert?

Cleveland has everything it needs to be a world class city..except people. I just hope that we can preserve some of these beautiful old buildings from demolition...
As I look out the window at the torrential downpour outside, I find myself amused by the idea that we are going to run out of water. Where do you get this stuff? If you are referring to the Drought of 2007, that has long been over...it was a 500 year drought, in case you didn't know. Everyone has them.
How do build a city on the desert? Ever heard of Las Vegas? Reservoirs can be built in the desert, just like anywhere else.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Great Lakes aren't going to be saving anybody down here anytime soon.

People seem to forget the immigration aspect, which seems to help keep the population growth on the plus side for NY State.

No one is forgetting anything. I was just pointing out that if you took births and deaths out of the equation NYC would be losing population every year which was the premise of the thread.
