The lowly Cavs are talking to the Charlotte Bobcats about sending Gerald Wallace to the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers would send the entire trade exception to the Bobcats and we would get Gerald Wallace and a protected 1st round pick.....Thoughts on this potential deal?

Given the depleted roster (6 men down, including 3 starters), it would be an instant lift. I wouldn't mind seeing another 18 and 10 guy who can defend in a Cavs uniform. Him and a first round pick is probably the best you're going to get for the exception unless you can find a deal that nets you 2-3 first rounders. But, that would be dreaming.

True but I read the rest of the story and I saw that Wallace says that he doesn't want to come here....Not like he has a choice but he most likely wouldn't resign.

I don't think anyone wants to go to an 8-31 team (soon to be 8-32). But, the Cavs have until July to use it and they will definitely not let it go to waste. Even if he didn't re-sign, they would have him under contract through the 12-13 season which would essentially allow the Cavs to extend the exception through those two seasons. They could then trade him off to a team looking to dump salaries. So goes the rebuilding process...

Either way, I just heard Fred McCleod say that the Cavs are now down to 7 healthy players. They need some bodies quickly.

1) Wallace has totally fallen off this year.
2) If the Cavs trade for him, he should be traded again, probably to Dallas, prior to the deadline for pick + expiring. This team doesn't need old players, it needs picks + youth.

What do you think Dan Gilbert will do this offseason to prove to the fans that he is going to do something? I don't agree with how LeBron left, but the "letter" was just patehtic on Dan's part. His casino better be under construction soon lol. But this guy better do something big during the offseason so we have a winning team next year. We sure as hell know he has some big time money.

Well, they're going to have to rebuild. This whole team was built around LeBron. Time to blow it up and start over. I don't think we can expect a winner for awhile. We had a great team for 4-5 years. Enjoy the memories. Most cities never get to see what we had for awhile.

While his open letter was somewhat silly, I thought it was the right thing to do at the time. You have got to rally the fans round your cause and that's exactly what he did. Any other type of reaction and the fans would have wondered if the guy had a soul after he just got faced on national TV.

What does the casino have to do with the Cavs? These are two, totally different ventures.

1.) Wallace is an All-Star player who averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds last year. He was also named to the NBA's All-Defensive 1st team. I'll take it.

2.) The deal would come with a 1st round pick. FYI, Wallace is the same age as Varejao. Wallace would likely be used for his expiring contract in 2 years or even an earlier trade.

Really, because I thought the Casino and basketball went hand-in-hand. Come on now! I know. I am saying I would like to see the casino under construction real soon. It's the one thing that is positive from him for the city, because we sure as hell know the Cavs aren't. Just another laughing stock for Cleveland on a national level. The casino renderings looked great. It is a good thing under Gilbert's belt if you ask me. I know there are still regulations that need to go through before construction starts.
