Hi everyone-

My husband and I recently moved back to the Cleveland area for my husband's job and are looking for a place to live. We left an amazing neighborhood in New Jersey, and are hoping to find a similar close-knit neighborhood here with an easy commute to my husband's job in Uniontown. As I've been researching I stumbled upon Echo Hills in Brecksville, which sounds like a really great place to live. Can anyone weigh in to tell me what it's like living there? I'm interested in getting an overall idea of how sociable it is, how nice the lake/fishing area/playground is (the pictures make it look amazing!), how active people are in the club, etc., but I also was hoping to get a read on the makeup of the community. We have a 1-1/2 year old daughter, so I want to make sure that wherever we move there will be other kids her age and it's not a community of families with teenagers, empty nesters, etc.

If anyone has any thoughts we would be very appreciative!!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Heidi

I don't think we have any resident "Brecksvillians" here.
Even if we did the chance that they live in that one particular neighborhood is remote.

Overall Brecksville is a family friendly city and I think most of us would agree.

Brecksville is a great city, fantastic for families with kids. I grew up in Independence which is directly North. Cities like Brecksville and Indy are totally geared toward families with kids, with excellent schools, parks, civic centers, summer "Home Days" fair, fireworks, you get the idea. Most developments in these burbs have a decent share of families with kids but they often are scattered accross several streets. Basically, buy your kid a bike so they can ride around the neighborhood, enroll them in the public school, and they will meet kids on their own. It's not like the more urban family friendly pockets (Fernway in Shaker comes to mind) where every house on the street has kids around the same age. Almost any place in Brecksville is going to be a great place to raise your kid/s. I have to say that Echo Hills looks fantastic, nice parks!

Brecksville seems a bit out of the way if you want an easy commute to Uniontown. That's got to be a 45m drive on a good day and the traffic through Akron will slow it down during peak times.

Have you looked at the Portage Lakes/Green area close to Uniontown for a neighborhood that fits what you want?
