(For contrast, look at Evanston, Illinois, a Chicago suburb often compared with Lakewood. It's well served by rail that cuts right across the city with quite a few stops along the way, including the downtown area.)

I know there once was talk of putting an RTA rail line down the railroad tracks that cut across Lakewood east to west between Detroit and Clifton. IIRC, Dennis Kucinich was a major proponent of that project.
I've never heard of Lakewood compared to Evanston.

Sure, but my reading is that there are other suburbs/suburban areas in the Greater Cleveland that seem to be more similar to Evanston.

I find that really interesting. I would like to know what they would be. I used to live in Evanston. It's a really nice town. I visited Lakewood very briefly but really wasn't there long enough or saw enough to be able to see a whole lot of it but what I did see I liked. I was staying mostly on the East side of town in Cleveland Heights which I really liked as well.
