Hi all,

I will be attending Case Western this coming fall, and now I am having a hard time to find a place for living with my family (wife+2 year old son). I know a lot of previous posting also talked about this topic, but please help.

Since my little one is only two years old, I do not worry about schools, but definitely consider safe and good environment and neighbors. I probably want 2 bedroom apartment around $900 including utilities. Since I cannot go there and look around, I have to rely on Internet sources which can be a bit tricky. There are lots of apartment, and it makes me to decide where to go even harder. Specifically what apartments are good or bad if you know any of them? Now I am looking at Fairhill palace, Concord, Kensington, etc. Are these decent?

I also open to rent a house. IF I rent a house (including duplex ~1500sq ft), what would be the cost of utilities such as gas and electricity.

ANY comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default Shaker Square

Shaker Square is a nice area and full of people affiliated with Case (students, professors, researchers). You should check out the list of apartments maintained by the City of Shaker Heights on their website. The program is called Certified Shaker and lists apartments that have met their standard of quality. There are usually quite a few in the Shaker Square area. They also have duplexes available, but they are a little farther from Case (though not much).

Thank you, JMV. Are apartments on Fairhill Rd considered safe (east of Kindred Hospital along the road) for family?

A good amount of people who work nearby (maybe graduate students at Case Western or at Cleveland Clinic) seem to rent in those apartments on Fairhill. I go past those apartments everyday, they're definitely safe and you wouldn't have any problems living there.
