Are there a lot of people in Cleveland that still root for the Ravens?

I'm wondering because there are a lot of people in Houston who still pull for the Titans, which I think is completely backwards and it gets under my skin to no end.

Hahahaha! That's funny. I've even noticed that, but there are still TONS of die-hard Browns fans...

I don't know any Browns fans that became Ravens fans once they moved to Baltimore. In fact, many of us hate the Ravens more than the Steelers. It's a little different in our situation, we got to keep the the Browns stats, records, history, colors, and name, where the Titans took all of that stuff to TN. Not to mention the Browns have been around longer than the Oilers/Titans and in my opinion have a much more storied/memorable history than the Oilers/Titans. The Cleveland Browns Backers Club is also one of, if not the biggest fan organization in the world. Art Modell ripped out our hearts when he stole our Browns and we fought to win back what was ours as a city and a region.

The Ravens are synonymous with the Modell regime. To the average fan, rooting for the Ravens would be like rooting for the success of Modell (even though he isn't really associated with them anymore). To answer your question: I'm not saying those people don't exist, but I personally have never seen or heard of even one of them. Raven hatred is fairly unilateral around these parts.

Fun fact: The Lerner family (namely the now deceased Al Lerner), who currently owns the Browns, had almost as much to do with the Browns leaving Cleveland as Art Modell did. He was a minority owner and had wanted controlling interest over Modell for years. He was also the chairman of MBNA (MB = Maryland Bank) and had much clout in the Baltimore area. Well, it doesn't take a mathematician to figure the rest out.

There are some Braves fans left in Boston, Dodgers Fans in Brooklyn, and Rams fans in LA, so did you guys get jealous because once they left, they won.

No. Ravens games were on the radio in Cleveland in 1996, the first year the Browns were gone. I'm sure a few people listened, I did a couple times. After that, there was no talk of the Ravens whatsoever. And by the time they won in Baltimore, we had our team back.

I honestly don't know a single person who has EVER rooted for those ratbirds. Every person I know hates the Baltimore Ravens and wishes nothing but the worst for them and Art Modell.

Cleveland_Collector did bring up the most ironic fact about the whole situation. Still boggles my mind how the Lerner family never got grief for their part in the ordeal.

Regardless, GO BROWNS and F**K the Ravens AND Steelers!!

It had a lot to do with perception and, let's face it, Modell was never very well liked. He also put his face in front of the controversy with his "build me a new stadium or else" rhetoric. The way he and his front office treated Kosar on his way out didn't endear him to many either. Lerner likely knew that the only way to get the guy out of town was to lure the rat out with cheese. And, that's pretty much how it went down. Then, Lerner and his group swooped in and re-established the Browns franchise in record time. People were so happy to have their team back and the hatred for Modell was brimming so much that people largely ignored Lerner's role. In Lerner's defense, it was no secret that ol' Artie was looking to move the team anyway so he could "compete" in a new stadium -- even though 82,000 fans filled the old one (that he leased from the city for $1) nearly every game and the Browns turned a sizeable profit every single year.
