I am moving to Cleveland area and have a job in the Solon area, but am thinking of living in the downtown or warehouse district. How long would a reverse commute out to Solon take on average? I am guessing about 35 to 45 minutes?? Any ideas, and how difficult is it to get an apartment in the warehouse district? Thanks for your help.

probably closer to 20-25mins, as youd be going the opposite way of most other people

480 gets bad in both directions during the rush. I'd say 35 minutes. There are long waits to get in the Warehouse District. To get into a decent building your looking at 3 months to a year.

Great idea with the reverse rush hour. I had to do that for a year and I felt smarter than everyone else crusing along while I see the hoards of people going bumper to bumper trying to come into Downtown.

I'd like to echo the effort it may take to get a place Downtown. For some reason, apartments are over 97% full!

Cleveland's inner city is growing faster than its suburbs as young adults flock downtown | cleveland.com

no vacancy: with more residents moving downtown, occupancy rates reach 95 percent

It sounds like people are having success by being persistant. I'd recommend calling and even dropping by maybe once or twice a week until you can land a place.

Thanks for the help. Any suggestions for a place to live that house young people similar to the warehouse district in case I cannot find anything? Thanks again.

IMO the best thing about living in the Warehouse District is the full service grocery store walking distance from all the apartments. Constantinos Market | Cleveland's Neighborhood Market

The hotspot Downtown right now is the E.4th Street area. I would also check out the Gateway District.

Thanks for everyone's help. Now, I read an article about how the nightlife in the warehouse district on Fridays and Saturdays has lead to many people loitering about around the area and causing some problems, both related to noise and crime, etc. Warehouse District struggles with popularity, race issues and the legacy of the Flats | cleveland.com is this a serious problem? Thanks.

this is old news....The Warehouse is a great area you should be fine...The article you're reading was back in 2010...Those issues have already been dealt with and law enforcement has that district covered...The Warehouse is definitely one of my favorite places to go. The Clubs/Bar etc.... are very diverse and I'm sure you'll love it.

Yes, the warehouse district is well policed on the weekends. The one very smart move that they made was eliminating all free street parking in and around the district on weekend nights. Basically, if you park at a bagged meter, you get towed. It forces everyone into valet parking or to the paid surface lots which are much easier to secure. The riff-raff doesn't want to pay for any of it either. For the partiers, it's the cost of 1-2 drinks per car.

I would also add that going from downtown to Solon along I-480E will not be a picnic in the morning. 176 or I-77S will usually fly.
