We currently live in the Cleveland Heights/University Heights school district and are not happy with the high school options they have for my son who will be in 9th grade next year.

Our family is looking to move to a district where we can buy a home not much more expensive than 100k, also cannot be any of these communities:

Aurora Beachwood Bedford Chagrin Falls Cleveland Hts. / University Hts. East Cleveland Euclid Maple Heights Mayfield Orange Richmond Heights Shaker Heights Solon South Euclid Lyndhurst Warrensville West Geauga

since they all feed into CEVEC, a vocational special ed training center, since we know by experience that it's not suitable for my son.

This could be either east or west side (probably west side since we have listed all of the east side schools as going to CEVEC). Possibly northern Summit County would be OK since I work in Hudson. Possibly the west part of Lake County as well.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. We are not looking to rent a home, must be able to purchase a home within our price range (<100k)

Thanks for your feedback!

Do you want him mainstreamed or in a class more tailored to his unique needs?

Look into Berea. Not sure about their high school, but my nephew is slightly autistic in the 4th grade and before moving to Berea, he was not doing so well in Cleveland schools. He's now FLOURISHING, a completely different kid, in a Berea elementary school...so definitely check Berea out

Check out the Cleveland School of Science and Medicine at John Hay Campus in University Circle, it's a public school so it's free but the education for all 3 schools they all have ratings over 100 and rank at the top as far as schools in the state but the School of Science and Medicine has teachers that are trained to teach children with special needs. The school is very friendly and doesn't pick on or discriminate against special needs kids, I know this because I attended the Cleveland School of Architecture and Design at John Hay Campus (2011 Grad) and spent time on their floor and witnessed this first hand.
