Hi Clevelanders, i am moving to your area with two little ones, a 4th grader and a toddler. I am a bit more conservative than liberal, i work hard, hard hard , and where i currently live now , my taxes have doubled and im done working for nothing. Cleveland for (ie) ch has reallly nice homes, great prices, but according to most posts, if i live on one side of a street im good, the other im not ... Thats how it is here, and i want to get away from that, i would like a safe neighborhood with good schools, up to 45 min commute is ok - where should i look?? its not about diversity its about "hard working, strong ethics at home, no free loader attitude vs. free loader lazy drugs crimes " ...
I would love to be guided a little bit so i can feel safe with my babies, i appreciate it, L.

sigh..... I guess people only want to believe the naysayers. It's unfortunate.

But yeah, if you are really looking for a more moderate-conservative suburb, I would say Beachwood. Not too far from the Heights, so if you ever wanted to do anything interesting it wouldn't be so hard.

By the sounds of your mindset, I'd suggest the west side for the most part. If living in a moderate or conservative area is important to you, avoid most of the inner eastern suburbs and I'd avoid Beachwood too since Beachwood isn't moderately conservative by any means (it voted more than 2:1 for Obama). Solon and most of Lake County could still be good for you though.

On the west side, just about every suburb fits what you described to some degree except Lakewood and Berea.

However, it's hard to get very specific with recommendations without a little more to go on, such as where are you commuting to, what kind of budget do you have, and whether you're looking for a newer home or an older one. From what you did post, Parma is the first place that comes to mind as a safe, affordable place with decent schools and somewhat conservative.

Mayfield Village or Orange on the Eastside. Solon or Mentor if you want to be a bit farther out are options as well. I don't know enough about the westside to recommend specific cities, but there are going to be options there too.

If you define "conservative" as voting for a republican, you won't find many places that fit the bill. However, I think it's foolish to suggest that Beachwood is as liberal a place as Cleveland Heights or Lakewood for example. Beachwood is much less of a funky place. I would say "conservative."

Pleaseeee. Beachwood not liberal? Look at the demographics, easy to figure. Beachwood voted over 2 to 1 Obama over Romney How Beachwood Residents Voted In the 2012 Election - Beachwood, OH Patch
Geauga county is definetely conservative as I would say Mentor is as well..

You didn't read what I said. "Conservative" doesn't always have to mean voting for republicans. I mean come on. How often in a given day do you go around asking your neighbors about who they voted for? You have no idea what you're talking about if you think Beachwood is as liberal in tone as some other areas.

Yes, Geagua county is definitely conservative across the board, but I also would not recommend anybody I like to live there.

^just lost your credebility there, some great & beautiful areas to live in Geauga, many people with the assets to live just about anywhere call Geauga home, as I did in Bainbridge for many years...if I had to live in OH I could not think of a better spot IMO..

You couldn't pay me to live in Geagua county. Glad you like it though.

I just don't consider Geauga county "Cleveland." Too far away, too boring.
