My husband has been working in downtown Cleveland for 6 months. We are relocating from York, pa. I am the trailing spouse trying to sell our house. Husband has been living in Medina and likes the area but we are open to others.

We have two girls 13 and 11. We have been focusing on medina county because of the lower taxes. My husband also likes the affordability of the area. We are mainly looking between medina, Brunswick, wadsworth. I know wadsworth is a bit far of a commute but for the right area the commute is fine. He has been commuting from medina for 6 months like I said.

Can anyone tell me which schools are better? Is there any decent shopping/restaurants in wadsworth? Rec centers, parks, downtown areas? Also my daughter will be diving in Akron which is why we are trying to stay in these areas. Something else I should consider or know? Hoping to relocate in the next several months.

Wadsworth is a nice town but you can surely get something just as nice and affordable and closer to downtown Cleveland. Commuting is a terrible waste of time and money. If you're not into urban living and want to live in the exurbs then I would consider the northern Summit County communities of Sagamore Hills, Macedonia, or Twinsburg. All of these communities have great schools (Nordonia Hills City School District and Twinsburg City School district) and are very affordable. They are less than 1/2 hour to downtown (Cleveland or Akron) via the freeway.

School rankings can be found here: Ohio school district rankings | The Columbus Dispatch

Take these with a grain of salt though, there are districts that have incredible programs but are weighted downward because they also deal with suburban or inner city problems.

Wadsworth has been access to Akron although Medina probably is the best for both Cleveland and Akron access.
